Tanner shares his journey receiving treatment for Stage 4 Melanoma that metastasized to his brain.
“Through a series of events, that I can only attribute to Divine intervention, I was able to get an appointment to see Dr. Steven O’Day in May 2019. Over the course of a few months leading up to this, my diagnosis had gone from a stage 3, to “cancer free”, to stage 4. I was told there were no clinical trials that I qualified for, and there was little hope. More chemo and radiation were prescribed but this would never cure my cancer again. The best they could offer was remission.
The fact that I was now sitting in the exam room waiting to see Dr. O’Day meant he had reviewed my records and though he could help me. I remember being anxious not knowing if I would hear more of the same. Then, he came into the room, pulled a chair up in front of me and said, “You’ve done chemo and radiation, how about this time we go for a cure?”
Three months later, in July 2019, after having only 2 treatments, I was declared cancer free. Dr. O’Day and his staff astonished by my body’s response to immunotherapy and I knew in my heart that ALL of this was the hand of God.
